Quite agree, Judie! I often catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and think, "if only I looked a bit more like Brad Pitt... or Joey from Friends... or Fred from Corrie..."

Product placement. Advertisers pay to have their goods in the foreground/background of popular tv shows/films. Ultimate example was the film Josie & The Pussycats - everything was branded - even the carpets. Not sure if it was meant to be ironic... The BBC have strict rules about it, but ITV is a commercial channel.

The advertising standards agency have rules about it too. It's not allowed on TV. Props can be used but must not be overtly placed as to promote the products they represent. For axample you can use an Audi A4 in a scene but you can't allow the camera to settle on the badge, thus identifying the car as an Audi A4.

But you often see names of products in BBC programmes, don't you? I am sure I have seen foor products advertising the maker's name?

when the sceen in a tv prog takes place in a shop in doesn`t take a genius to see the advertised products & what they are. It makes me laugh when someone says "20 of my usual please" when asking for cigs. We all know which brand they smoke.
