Raking it in?
2 Answers
3 part question:
How much of a profit does UKTV make?
It's on Sky/Cable, so you have to pay to recieve it, they have 15 minutes of adverts for a half hour show, they only show repeats, so they don't have to pay to produce anything, and it's run by the BBC, so they probably give themselves cheap rates to show BBC programmes, which seemingly most of it is. As far as I can remember they don't have continuity announcers or phone-ins or anything, so it must have very few staff.
Does the money they make go back into the BBC?
Could they not have it on Freeview, considering it has adverts so could probably pay for itself?

I reckon they should give the fat cats an extra rise for all the good work they do! \o/ yay to the bbc what would we do without them eh?.... probably be able to spend all that money we waste on a tv licence towards something that would actually benefit ourselves... once again woo hoo to the bbc for such great work
