Well, I thought it was rubbish.

I found it to be contrived and trite, with unrealistic situations and two-dimensional characterisations. I felt like I'd been beaten over the head with the issues by the end of it. Though it was beatifully shot and well acted.

Does anyone think it deserved best film?

Yep I loved it :-)
I agree, I thought it was a really good film!
yes sorry have to agree with above postings thought it was a real good thought provoking film

I also thought it was a really good movie.

Had me gripped especially when I thought the little girl was going to get shot. My heart was in my mouth.
Excellent film - glad to see it win.
Superb film although I was a little confused by it. How did the little girl not get hurt? But what was the point of it. There were some good people and some bad!
She didnt get hurt because the daughter had put blanks in the gun.

Thought it was an excellent film and really made me think about the way i judge people etc without knowing them.

A worthy winner i think

great movie...sorry eye_nose!
Sorry eye_nose, another one here who thought it was a great film (especially the Ryan Phillippe and Terrence Howard characters).
Good film, some really fine performances, but personally i thought capote, munich, walk the line and good night and good luck were better films.
Have to disagree with you eye_nose, thought it was a superb piece of cinema. I'm a big fan of films with separate story strands that all come together for the denoument, eg Pulp Fiction; Magnolia; Me, You and Everyone We Know (one of the most underrated films of last year). A worthy winner. As for your claim that it has unrealistic situations, how many films actually accurately mirror our lives? Crash certainly had more verisimiltude than Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc.
Its unanimous then!

Well I agree totally with eye_nose.

It was all a bit worthy for me, in a "Let's do a film that 'deals' with racism" kind of way. The various conflicts seem to have come from a 20-minute brainstorm.

It was very polished though and the acting was excellent. But the screenplay was very heavy-handed and trite.
