Can anyone from the production team confirm that the banker actually speaks for as long as Mr Blobby makes it out to be. Is there anyone on the line at all or is Blobby making it all up? Cant be difficult!!

i think there is someone on the end of the phone because earlier in the sreies one of the contestants was given the phone by Noel "tidy beard" Edmunds.,and spoke to the banker himself.
I'm not from the production team but yes, there certainly is someone at the other end of the line. He actually talks to the players quite frequently.
What ever you think of Noel Edmuds, this show demonstrates what a total professional he is. he creates an atmosphere of tension and drama daily out of what is largely a game of chance, with no discernable skill required to win. The flimsiness of the premise is turned on its head and made into a cliff-hanging drama, entirely due to Noel Edminds' ability to ratchet up the tension. His timing is perfection. Harts off.
We have the programme in Spain and it's called 'Alla Tu'. And again sometimes the contestants get to speak to the banker. Also, the programme is a lot better done here.

Good shout Andy.

The game is really a bit bobbins but Noel does manage to inject some tension into it. Im not trying to start a fan club or owt but Edmonds has recieve a pretty harsh press in recent years and it generally recognised that hes a pretty decent chap. Mr Blobby wants a slap though!

What is web address of the list of past winners
It's Harry Hill !! Haven't you seen him on Saturday nites "big Burp"
Noel also put the speaker of the phone to his Microphone and we could hear The Banker laugh

I think if there was nobody on the phone it would not give Noel the spontenaity that works so well. It is just as easy to have the real banker than a fake phone and have to have Noel pretend.

Don't you find Countdown dull beforehand? If I switch on a bit early it all seems so dreary, then Richard and Judy afterwards is such a let down I always switch off!

Is there a noeladdict helpline?
