I am with Drisgirl here. I first heard it whilst waiting at traffic lights on my way to work at a primary school. I just sat and cried and couldn't drive. It was so close to my heart. The TV coverage was heart rending.

And for a fictional programme, I cried buckets when Dr David Shearer (Adrian Lukis) died in Peak Practice - mainly 'cos he is my idol and he wasn't going to be back in the series. I just took it all so seriously.
I cried loads when Ednas dog got put 2sleep in Emmerdale, even when i c clips of it now it makes me cry. I think things with animals or children are always so heart breaking
So there with you on the Vicar of Dibly one and the Boy Whose Skin Fell Off.
im quite surprised that no-one has mentioned the 9/11 incident, watching that unfold live was one of the most disturbing things i have ever seen in my life and actually made me wonder how any human could do that. in that sense i agree with sickof morons, Diana was one woman who lived a healthy life and had everything she ever wanted in life. over 3000 people died while doing a job on 9/11 something that diana i dont think ever had to do. so sickof morons is pointing out that an overpriviliged woman who has never worked in her life does not deserve so much attention as things like 9/11 any thoughts anyone????
Am I bad in thinking that 7/7 is more upsetting to me than 9/11 because its in my country.
well its your opinion but seeing people jump out of a building to their death because the building is burning at about 300oC is worse for me

jimboy2. I do agree with you about 9/11 being very sad but for some reason it didn't affect me as much as Dunblane. On thinking about it, I was really upset by the Tsunami and the Pakistan Earthquake as well.

I didn't feel sad about Diana, she meant nothing to me and I agree with your sentiments. I felt sad for her children, but no sadder than for any other children who have lost their mother in an accident. However, I realise that there are loads of people who were sad, but wonder whether they were just carried away with the emotion that was whipped up.

I wish really - no offence to blink - she had said fictional or factual,Its become a bit of a mixture of sad things which were fictiional and coverage of events which were factual.Pople are only reacting - quite rightly to things which moved them.I used to cry at This is your Life !!!

On a personal note - not because I live not far from Dunblane and I'm sure you will all appreciate that - but seeing parents in abject distress - not knowing if their child was alive or dead will never leave me.Those wee souls would be 15 or 16 now - the horror and loss will never ever leave me.

Its almost voyeuristic watching events like that unfold - I watched the second plane going into the twin towers - but we have to ask ourselves if we heard through word of mouth would be understand the atrocities.I remember saying to someone just minuted after the 2ns Twin Towers and they were so flippand -like o we were in the US last year - just shows you.I just said see for yourself on the news tonight.

Unfortunately we have to see the horror, distress and disbelief for ourselves because we wouldnt have a clue otherwise.

I am not being maudling - but it is raw at the moment -

So Bless their wee souls xx

Drisgirl. As I said I worked in a Primary School (a very small village school). I was going into the reception class in the afternoon after having popped home for lunch, when I first heard the news. The children killed in Dublane was equivalent to the whole infant section of the school. When the mums came to fetch their children they were all in tears. I'll never forget that day.
seeing the flowers outside of St James's Palce after Diana died.....and realising there were that many stupid people in this country! That for me was the saddest moment of all.
and just as a footnote- this is not meant to detract from the genuine tradgedy and sadness fealt for the victims of the atrosity in Dunblane. Also the Michael Burke reports on Ethiopia, 9/11, the Tsunami and any other genuine human tradgedies.

Well sick - thank you for having some compassion.

gessoo - I live next to a primary school and we all just wanted to make sure our bairns were OK but we couldnt because we all realised ours had to be protected from what had happened and not frightened.

I just walked up our riverside with my pal and wept.

when Mark Green died in ER

My opinion is when I saw soldiers being dragged in the street in Somalia back in '93. We were there giving aid and food to a nation that was being straved by the waring factions. It is so distrubing to me.

The film The Chap ....... gets me every time .... never mind when he is in the boxing ring , i cried when he gave him the horse !!!!!

Totally agree with 4getmenot about the C4 documentary "The Boy Who's Skin Fell Off"

I can't listen to "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen now without getting all choked up.

:(

I think the saddest moment for me has to be when the twin towers collapsed in 2001 and 1000's of people lost their lives along with two of the worlds greatest structures. I still cry when Jesus gets crusified in Jesus of Nazareth. That'll be on soon at easter!
