from the lyrics that sounds like Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

it's sung in a swing style, the scene is where the they are in prison and Egon is telling everyone what is about to happen.

Its just his own way of singing it, changing the words from Santa Claus is coming to town isnt it??

please watch it and find out for yourself, the words don't fit. this has been doing my head in for years.
When I next come across ghostbusters on tv I will make sure I find you again :-)
Didn't the guy he sacked in Scrooged sing the same song to him when he was trying to blow his head off with a shotgun?

i dont know but i'll check it out!
The character was Eliot Loudermilk, played by Bobcat Goldthwait. Strange voice.

It's a hacked-up version of Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. By not singing the actual song melody or lyrics (note, the name "Santa" is never mentioned), it didn't have to be listed in the movie credits and royalties paid to the estates of songwriters J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie every time the movie airs.
