Remembered Kids show...

A friend of mine is trying to remember a kids show he saw when he was growing up in the 80s but which he thinks may have been made in the 70s. It involved a group of children perhaps plane crashed/shipwrecked on an island where they had to live - all adults were gone. He thinks it may have been American.. any ideas anyone?
