What was the point in that? The kids seemed really willing to get to know the grumpy old s*d. But he cut them off.

See I always get to know old people coz they have got alot to give, they may be stuck in their ways but they are really interesting. But what an old git, I would have shouted by him at the end. Everybody had to listen to him yet all he said was 'Shut Up, Shut Up' And the way he said 'well she's only a two year old' that he started out just ignoring her like she was a piece of the furniture. And he talks of manners, how about actually telling them he know longer wants to stay in touch getting their hopes up then not bothering. He'll die a lonely man.

glad I was'nt the only one who thought he was a miserable old b*gger. He spent time telling the oldest boy (who really seemed to like him) that it would be good for him to have a man around, so he could ask questions etc. Then suddenly realises at the end of the programme that his life is too busy. Yeah, too busy sitting in his chair smoking his pipe and waving at the neighbours

4getmenot, I have a lot of time for the older generation too. But him. And I found that programme insulting to the single mum. She was advertised as having 4 children by 3 different men. So an opinion was made about her, before she even got on the screen. She seemed a great mum. And she had 4 lovely kids.

Oh, getting a bit fiesty first thing, better go and have a coffee and calm down! :)

The oldest boy seemed to really like him.

See thats the thing, out of all of them I thought he would get on with the eldest because of his colour. I am in no way racist but I know my nan used to call them all darkies and hated them touching her if she had a coloured doctor, she used to scream blue murder. So he did suprise me with his non racism.
Sorry meant wouldnt get on with him. :-) wish you could go back and change your answers, then at least word butcher wouldnt rear his/her ugly head :-)

when he was fishing with the younger son, I really was hoping the old git would fall in.
He nearly caught himself :-)

oh yeah, lol.....

Oh i'm so glad that others felt like this about him, he was an awful awful old man.

By then end if the programme I was actually glad he didn't have children of his own so that future grandchildren didn't have to put up with him!
