Having just watched the film last night I was slightly spooked by how biographically close it was to me...I used to be a DJ, Just had a painful separation from a partner etc. Has anyone else had this experience in film or song????

This wasn't a teenage fantasy as I also genuinely thought that I had a telepathic link with him and that maybe I was his dead wife re-incarnated. I still secretly believe this, but not to the same degree as my CD is now knackered and skips a lot. This is serious.
Firstly sft42 if you have only seen the film I urge you to read the book. I think High Fidelity is a great book and the way it's written means it's easy to see similarities with your own life, I picked it up when staying at a friends house during a particularly messy split up and loved it, ironically enough as in the book I am now back with the person I split up with. I also think this is often the case particularly I find with songs, it's almost as if you want certain songs to be about your life, perhaps it's human nature to look for similarilties like these?
sft42 - I believe half the male population probably think Hi-Fidelity is about them, in much the same way as I hear half the female population think that Bridget Jones is about them! When I read the book I was freaked out by how much the main character is like my boyfriend - not only is he a dj, but he also has a specialist record shop, in which he takes great pleasure looking down his nose at people who come in for chart singles!
