Not the new film with Ant and Dec. But the "investigation" (hmmm) by Eamonn Holmes on Sky One.

How was the "original " film ever taken as serious in the first place ? Then the guys who "found" the film now admit it was a restoration (read fake ) and there is only pieces of the original in a bad state etc. Of course there is guys!!!

Again I ask , how did they "con"or persuade that it was real..... Anybody?

The main reason is that there are millions of people who just want it to be true and are only to willing to beleive anything that seems to confirm there beliefs about whatever bit of mumbo jumbo it is. It's the same reason all the so called mediums/psychics and assorted charlatans can earn a living. There are a lot of people who do not evaluate for themselves and find it easier to believe a "stock" answer from a prankster or from someone with an axe to grind or more seriously from someone who is trying to make a living out of the gullible, bear in mind that 50% of the population of the world has a below average IQ and do not have the intellect to think through the possibilities.
i did also happen like 60 years ago, where people believed differently to what they do now. Americans believe anything anyway!
