has anyone seen this film yet? i saw it and was completely lost in the plot. can anyone explain?

totaly disapointed with the film, was expecting it to be scary, the only thing that i can make out of it was, the girl had been abused by her father at some stage, what we saw were her nightmares, and that as an adult was a mother herself to a daughter who was being abused by her own father, and the mother had a visitor her former self, from previous life? who came to warn her of the abuse of her daughter. confused, so am i, can't think of any other explanation
