French film - no speech. Not a cartoon

A house with a goldfish bowl with a fish which swims round and round. And a cat which sits watching for his moment. One day, the cat goes out; the goldfish swims round *vertically* going faster and faster and eventually comes right out. The cat is away from the house, and (for dramatic effect), is shown hurrying home as if sensing his chance has come.

He arrives home, heads for the goldfish gasping for life beside the bowl - picks up the fish and puts it back into the bowl.

Anybody know the film's title please?

I quite sure the film your after is Amelie, it's fab!!

Amelie is a brilliant film, but I should have said I saw the goldfish film c 1955"!
