Greystoke, The Legand of Tarzan. Wonderful film yet constantly slated by the powers that be.

The Mission of the Shark with Stacey Keach and 'John Boy Walton'; and The Search with Montgomery Clift.
Dirty dancing 2
My dear Dorothy. Dirty Dancing 1 was bad enough. Did they realy make a sequel?? God forbid.

'Dogville' with Nicole Kidman is pretty good, and unusually directed (it has no set), but never seemed to get much attention as a movie.

'Ghost World' is another one which not many people seem to have heard of, even with Scarlett Johannsen in it.

The Horse Whisperer - brilliant and deeply moving
boondock saints
The Red Balloon
Seven Samurai (1954) absolute classic imho.

Yeh Boondock Saints......fantastic movie with Willem Defoe on top form.

The Big Lebowski.....brilliant.

a summer story..how this film is not available on dvd ill never know!!
I cant remember the title of the movie right now but its the the story of Jim Morrison from the Doors. Interesting movie definitely worth watching I think
Runaway Train with Jon Voight and Eric Roberts.
Mattk lol.....The Big Lebowski is one of my favourite films of all time, and while a lot of folk may have heard of it, not that many have ever seen it. It is a fantastic film (best ashes-scattering scene I've ever watched :o)), and really ties the room together.
Mine's hardly a cult classic that no-one's heard of, but it never seems to be on anyone's list of top musicals. It's 'The Music Man' with Robert Preston and Shirley Jones. Apart from a cast to die for - Buddy Hackett, Hermione Gingold, Paul Ford, Ron (litte Ronnie) Howard - the musical arrangement and choreography are a masterclass. Colour is superb, direction pure gold.
Robbo82 - The Red Balloon - fantastic film. Last year when I was in New York I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and in the shop there was a book of the Red Balloon which I bought and a video which I didn't buy as it was American and wouldn't have played over here. Oh for a DVD.

I agree, Enduring LOve was excellent. Other classics: -

U-Turn (J Lo and Sean Penn)

The Cube

Cube 2-Hypercube

Cube Zero

War Zone - Ray Winstone

Everything - Ray Winstone

'Osama'. It was the first film made in Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban.

It is set in the time of Taliban rule and depicts a young girl who pretends to be a boy in order to help feed her family. (Females were forbidden to work under the Taliban.) Unfortunately, she is rounded up, along with other 'boys' and sent to a Taliban training camp for indoctrination. Her plight is heartbreaking.

I bought the DVD after watching the film on BBC 3 and have watched it three times in a week and cried every time. It is absolutely brilliant, with an untrained cast and deeply moving performances.

Another wonderful film that few people will ever watch is the Kurdish film, 'Turtles Can Fly'.

Both sound absolutely rivetting !!!!!!!!!!

At the other end of the spectrum try "The Wrong Box". Based on a story by Robert Louis Stevenson and starring Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Michael Caine, John Mills and Ralph Richardson. It also provides bit parts for stars such as Tony Hancock, Irene Handl, and Peter Sellers.

No hidden messages, no social commentary on the tragedies of our time, no subtitles or dubbing needed, and the only tears you'll shed are tears of laughter. If a film ever made me cry (1) I certainly would never watch it again (I doubt I'd even see it through to the end) and (2) I'd want my money back! This post illustrates perfectly that (fortunately) we're all different.

I haven't seen Dark Star on the telly since 1983, and I didn't have a video recorder then !!!! What a brill film.
