Film Title???

Does anyone know the title of this film. It is set in England in a place near the sea, a guy and a girl turn to a life of crime and drugs and at the end the guy is on the beach with the gun and the police come in and shoot him. I think it is from the nineties. please help!

Sounds like Brighton Rock but that is much older

Can you remember who was in it at all? Essex Boys with Shaun Bean & Alex KIngston ( ER ) is on the imdb it was shot in Sothend in parts and is about drugs and crime but I am not sure it fits all of your plot requirements.

the only other thing i remember is that its the girl who gets addicted to drugs and the guy holds up shops to get money and they live in a scruffy flat. At the end when the guy has the gun on the beach someone has just persuaded him not to do something (kill himself or someone else i think) and as soon as he starts to put the gun away and reform he gets killed.
