What ever happened to the cast of "The Double Deckers"?

I remember watching it when I was a kid in the 70s.

I know that Melvyn Hayes was in it, so I'm not particularly asking about him. Also, I know that the black kid went on to be in the group The Real Thing. Whatever happened to the others?

Definately long overdue! I would love to see it again although I am refusing to pay top dollar for the DVDs for sale on ebay (all recorded from tv/video).

I've often seen references to this programme but don't remember it at all , what sort of era was it?

galltin, the show was made in 1970 and shown on BBC1 for a good few years.

There are about 13 or 17 episodes altogether.

It was often repeated on Saturday mornings or weekday mornings during school summer holidays ( or so I seem to remember ), along with such favourites as Noggin the Nog, The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe and The Flashing Blade.

electricblue.......................I saw on a prog a couple of weeks ago that Ant (from Ant and Dec) used to be a presenter on WDY!

I wonder if anyone else was on there and became famous?

Not a presenter, but the new Doctor Who's writer/producer Russell T Davies cut his teeth on "Why Don't You...?" It even got a mention in his Dennis Potter award intro at the recent BAFTA event.

just found this on the bbc doctor who site, about Russell T Davies.

Born at a young age in Swansea, Russell went to Olchfa Comprehensive School, then read English at Worcester College, Oxford. First job in TV was directing the kids on Why Don�t You � which I loved! I even cast a 12 year-old Ant McPartlin as one of the Newcastle Why Don�t You gang. Brilliant show to work on, I stayed for about 5 years, and working in Children�s was great � everything�s so cheap and cash-strapped, that you end up being trained in every single area of production, cos there�s no one else to do it.
