Beavis and Butthead - who's more intelligent

Has anyone else (as sad as me) noticed that Butthead (the brunette) is markedly more intelligent and incisive than Beavis (the blonde who turns into Cornholio). Was this deliberate or were these cartoons made as anarchically as they appear ?

One of them has to be slightly intelligent otherwise they wouldnt get into the messes they do! Same thing with Bill & Ted, or other comedy duo's. As both of their IQs come to less than the number of legs on a camel with lepracy, it dont really matter!

Butthead always seemed to me to be the Steven Hawkings of the duo; Beavis would feel at home in the West Ham squad as he tended to go psycho with minimal provocation. I haven't seen it in years, is it still funny? The U2 gags (Boner etc) still make me smile to this day.
