I've been a Telewest Cable customer for several years. The original cable box is a large, heavy and now, very old fashioned model. I asked Telewest if they would replace it with a lightweight modern model, and was told this could be done for an extra �15.00 per month. Is there a way round this?

I'd suggest threatening to leave. I had a similar thing with NTL some years back, and when I did that, they couldn't do enough for me. If they want you bad enough, they'll do it, and if they don't, then why should you give them your money?

sounds to me like they are trying to sell you TVdrive


the box is quite large but you can record 2 channels and watch a third at the same time as well as pausing live tv,it also has an 80Gb hard for recording masses of tv.


you would have to pay nearly 300 quid for the equivilent sky+ box.

break it. they will replace it then.


though to be fair, they have given you a working set - they are under no obligation to just give you another just because you don't like the look of the other one

read contract, as part of service telewest are obliged to update or replace old or faulty equiptment. tell them you do not want an extra box, but a completely new one. I rang up about a faulty box and they sent an engineer out to look at the telephone, luckily they replaced the faulty box without charge as they are meant to.

can i just say that i recently have had tv-drive installed by telewest, and it is the greatest thing ever ! I am very much a TV addict, but work long hours and travel a lot, so having this gismo in my home is a life saver.


You can indeed tape two channels at the same time, whilst watching a third - as well as being able to record live shows, whilst watching already recorded programmes. You will never miss an episode. You also have 70 hour of record time.


Much cheaper and better than Sky+
