1980's prog about a sex change

Does anyone remember a prog in the 1980's following a man's journey of changing to a woman. He was a cook and when he started cross dressing he found a guy and got engaged. BBC did about 3 progs following this person's progress. Eventually they ended up as a DJ, also ran a company making clay figurines and then ran their own bar - following full surgery for sex change. A nice bloke/woman - what was him/her name - would love to know how they're doing now and I guess she will be around 50 ish now. Thanks.

In 1981 George Roberts underwent a sex-change operation and became Julia Grant,she wrote a book called Just Julia , in 1994.From what i found on the net she used to own hollywood show bar in Manc, but not sure what she is up to now
