By the way, what does LOL mean? I thought it meant Lots of Love but it seems to be used all the time in contexts taht would make that non-sensical.
I HATE it when you switch on to watch something specific, say, at 9pm and between the programme that was on before it and the one you want to watch, they show you an advert for the one about to be on... and then they over-run so your programme starts at five past. I know it's only a few minutes, but WHY do it...?
Don't show me the advert. Show me the programme!!
News presntation annoys me. I hate the way they have the 5 presenters either perched on those luidcrously uncomfotrable benches that no-one ever sees anywhere else - with good reason, or leaning on a metal rial half way up a staircase - what the thinking there is heaven only knows.
I used to loathe Trevor MacDonald - if a listed building could talk, Trevor doing the news is how it would sound.
Now I hate 24 hour 'rolling' news, when there is patently nothing happening since twenty minutes ago, they go even further into the realms of nonsense simply to have some 'news' to put out.
But what I hate most is the way we have adopted the American media tactics of 'fright' news - every night there is the end of the world as we know it because of something or other, which usually comes to nothing at all. Bird flu? That was the end of western civilisation, but where is it now?
Nonsense. I hate nonsense and speculation dressed up as factual information.
I'll tell you what annoys me...
When you're watching a programme, and at the start they give you all the details of what they're doing. Then, whenever the adverts have been on, they repeat all of these details, as if viewers don't have the capacity to remember more than three minutes! It's so annoying."Location, Location, Location" and "Selling Houses" are prime examples of this.
A similar thing happens on "The Great British Menu." They introduce the chefs every day, okay, I can understand that, but every day they run footage introducing the judges, when they only actually take part on the Friday edition.
And I absolutely hate all those audience/chat shows where they drag up the most ludicrous people to confront "issues" and the audience goes mad.
I also hate all the Pop Idol type wannabe shows where the audience screams and hollers americanly, (new adjective?) and the way local radio stations "get behind" local entrants even when they're RUBBISH!
