The Prince of Wales appeared on the show in 1984 to read his own book "The Old Man Of Lochnagar".

I seem to recall that Rik's anarchic rendition of Roald Dahl's "George's Marvellous Medicine" prompted some viewers to complain about the show, the first time in its history.

In 1984 Prince Charles read a story which he had written himself called The Old Man of Lochnagar. Its so long since I saw Jackanory that the only thing I can remember now is the theme music!

..I always enjoyed Willy Rushton reading the Pooh Bear stories and also Bernard Cribbins was brilliant, he could have read the yellow pages and still made it interesting for kids...I remember when I was older (and shouldn't have been watching it due to college/work???) but Kathy Burke was rather good too....
