would you say that in recent years the womans role in the action adventure genre has changed? why? even with women having more of a dominant role do you think that they are still mainly seen as sexual objects?

I'm sure women dont mind being seen as sexual objects if it helps them get off a speeding fine or opens certain doors for them. As men are basically stupid enough to be infulenced by sexuality then it will always be a powerful weapon in a womans arsenal. On their own terms.
Try researching this in google with particular reference to the character of Ripley in Alien and maybe for a more modern spin on it look at the character of Lara Croft.

I think that on the whole the film business is very slow to change and also resistant to change where they have been successful.By repeating elements that have been successful they develop the formulas they make films from.Barring films like Alien where the strong female lead is essential to the story,then they fall back on what they know.


Possibly another aspect of this is the actors themselves.Filmmakers will find it easier to envision an actor in an action part.It is more of a stretch to imagine a woman doing the same kind of thing.


Perhaps things are changing.In the film Serenity,Summer Glau did some amazing fight scenes.And Jennifer Garner in Alias.
