just seen this 1949 film featuring Dennis Price and Alec Guinness.
I must say it is one of the best films i have ever seen, along with The Bridge Over The River Quy (correct spelling, i think) also featuring Guinness, and i think that nothing no matter how new or glamourous films are none can top the old fashioned films such as these and the other greats( casablanca, Gone with the wind etc).
my fondness for these two films also comes for their representation of the British firm upper lip and the chivalry and manners expressed by the gentlemen and the poise and elegance shown by the women in these masterpeices. I am writing this to express my views but also to inquire as to whether anyone else agrees or disagrees with me.
Thank you in advance

sorry WD, silly me....i am ashamed :-(
Oh i love a good old film, I watch them all the time, last night I was transfixed watching The Wild Bunch.

The old ones somehow have something about them. Kind hearts and Coronets, man in the White Suit, Passport to Pimlico etc

I can always sit down and watch one at anytime when they are on. I suppose I can also remember when manners meant something and being polite was the norm!!

Rant over!

i love kind hearts and coronets - i think it's a great story, and any film needs that.

These days i can work out the end of a film almost straight away, there's no surprises, just cliche after cliche.

With kind hearts you really don't know what's going to happen - even right at the very end!

Kind Hearts and Coronets is a fantastic film, I could watch it any time. I also like The Lady Vanishes (the cricketing pair are a hoot) and all the kitchen sink dramas, Saturday Night Sunday Morning, In The Family Way etc etc.
Mrs Miniver, a real tear jerker, especially the scene in the car.
