I wonder if anyone can tell me where i could get hold of an old film possibly from the fiftys called 'cathy come home' or another one called 'up the junction' I would be really grateful, it's for my mother in law.

They're both from the 60s. Up the Junction was originally a TV play (directed by Ken Loach) and then made into a film starring Suzy Kendall, Dennis Waterman, Maureen Lipman and Adrienne Posta. I can't imagine that either would be easy to find but the BBC might have the original on video.
If it's any interest to you, the National Film Theatre is showing the original Up the Junction next month.
