british villians

has anybody else noticed that when in an american film or cartoon they have a villian they're always,always british?what have the americans got against the british that they need to let us know through they're films and animations.

they even portray the british to have funny buck teeth and big noses that are in the air all the time. i know this isn't true.

i'd your opinions please!

It's probably because we English are big enough and secure enough in our self esteem not to whine and whinge if we are prtrayed in a poor light in films. It also keeps our actors employed, so that's a bonus.

Americans do enjoy portraying Americans as the beautiful people on film, but believe me, they are an incredibly fat and unhealthy looking lot away from the silver screen and Hollywood. They are a lot nicer than they're given credit for though and I do like them.

I think it's more to do with the accent more than anything else - a perfect cut glass accent sounds soooooooooo much more evil.

Sean Bean is almost always a baddie in Hollywood films too

It's become a bit of a cliche hasn't it. Yes, you always know Sean Bean is going to be a baddie if he turns up in an American film. Ian McKellan, Alan Rickman, Jeremy Irons, David Thewlis, Joss Ackland, all that lot. I think it's actually a back-handed complement. I think the baddy tends to be the role with the best lines and - particularly in action films - has to be played straight for the American hero to bounce wisecracks off. So they go for a Brit actor because they've got that "proper" stage acting gravitas that American screen actors don't have.

Other than that, the only reason is racism.

Drusilla1S is actually very close to the truth. A famous Hollywood director (I forget which one) was once asked this very question - why do so many Hollywood films have British villains? His answer was something along the lines of "because you guys are the only ones who don't complain".

I guess you could call that a backhanded compliment :-)
