Yes, it was Cher. Full cast including music credits here: http://us.imdb.com/Credits?0060086
I didn't know that. Always thought it was Cilla Black, for whom Burt Bacherach wrote the song.
Cilla Black
Cilla Black recorded Alfie in March 1966. Cher is credited with singing it in the film of the same name. See also http://britmovie.co.uk
It was definitely Cilla "Eww yeah, lorra laffs puttn on an ewverhevvy scawse axnt thrrrre" Black, but Cher was on the version of the film released in America.
I'm now picturing Cher & Cilla doing a duet. Put me right off my breakfast it has.
Gazzawazza u r wrong. Cher sang the song in the film. It was the same film in the UK and in the USA. Cilla also recorded the song and had a hit with it in the same year that the film was released i.e. 1966. Unless you can prove different ....................
Sorry if I've misled anyone here, having not watched the film right through, (I can't abide Michael Caine, he would be one of my nominations for the most overrated actor question being the same character in every film he appears in). I was merely going off the film guide in "What's on TV" and I quote, "...Cilla Black sings the theme song but Cher replaced her on the print released in America."
