His character (Bomber) was from the West Country - Bristol, I believe.

thanks littleoldme
H was from Bristol - and supported Bristol City. Pat Roach managed a creditable West Country accent to play his part.
The language he speaks is English. His birth was in Birmingham thus British nationality. However, his accent is a strong Welsh thus I would consider him the Big Welsh Bomber. Some could argue his accent was Yorkshire, and when you think about it Welsh and Yorkshire accents are very similar, but anciently the Welsh first settled in York so that explains it. They also anciently settled in Cornwall hence the similar accent affinity there too. Basically to sum it up he was born in Britain and spoke with the Welsh accent/dialect, and as the ancient British were actually Welsh, you should say he was Welsh.

Welsh sounds nothing like Yorkshire, this answer is ludicrous.

Bomber Pat Roach was from Birmingham, but playing a character supposedly from Bristol in Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

To me, his accents sounds more Welsh than Bristol I would agreed, and is not a particularly good representation of the English west country.

All the other actors speak in their native accent (Liverpool, London, Birmingham, mostly Geordie) and only Bomber's is indistinct.
