My sky box is about to go kaput, at the mo I am having difficulty getting a signal for a lot of the channels. I have spoken to Sky and apart from the usual switch off/switch on malarky they say if that doesn't work then I need to buy a new box. If thats the case b4 I go ahead and do that are there any better options out there?? I have the basic package as the only real channels I watch are UK Gold, Paramount, UK Drama, Sky1, ITV2 and 3 etc. The movies are on pay as you watch thingy, and we rarely use it. At the mo I am paying just under 30 a month for this. Your help is appreciated
This could be caused by the dish being out of alignment, try plugging another sky box in, and checking whether there is any improvement. I had a similar experience some time ago and called in an aerial guy, who found that the sky installers had not tightened the fixing bolts properly which had allowed the dish to be moved by the wind.
Ask them about the engineer call out option - you pay a flat fee and they replace any & all faulty bits - incl box, dish etc. I did that and saved a fortune
Based on your viewing preferences, I suggest you buy a set-top box with Top-Up TV capability. Then for 7.99 a month you will get most of your requirements (nb not Sky 1 or Paramount or acces to pay movies - but you do get Film 4 & TCM).
