Best Actor?
29 Answers
In my humble opinion I think Nicholas Cage just has to be the, or at least one of the best actors we've ever had. He can act in any genre - romantic, comidy, tough guy, and I don't reckon he's had the recognition he deserves. He's not the only good actor, obviously. There are plenty of maybe better actors in one particular genre, but overall I think he's the best, bearing in mind his range of acting abilities.
I like John Wayne, but in all honesty I don't think anyone can call him an ACTOR; he's John Wayne in a cowboy, military or naval outfit. I can't ever see him playing a tender love scene, more like fetch her a wallop then leave the room as if his colostomy bag's exploded.
Nah, for me Nicholas Cage's head and shoulders above anyone else.
What do others think?

Better in action or comedy, couldnt imagine him turning his hand and Shakespeare, or anything particularly dramatic. He cant do accents to save his life, and his dopey voice in Captain Correlli was embarassing.
I love Gary Oldman and Christopher Walken, both prety kooky characters but rated highly anyway.
In my opinion L:eonardo Di Caprio (sp) is the most underated actor of our time.

De Niro up till about Goodfellas, now he has lost interest. Nowadays? Struggling to think of a real star. Pacino is still great but too old. Harvey Kietel still pushes the boundaries, but his films are too left field. I cant think of one actor that I would say I must see his movie, regardless, they way I did with De Niro from @ 1975 till the mid 80s. Going back further, James Cagney is a wonderful actor. Can you imagine an actor nowadays with Cagneys looks ( Pitt, Depp, Farrell, Cruise?) heading a blockbuster, and for so long? His gangster movies are pure class.
