Steve Irwin RIP
27 Answers
Is any one else saddened at the early death of Crocodile hunter Steve Irwin? I have just read the news and chill went down my spine. I liked his programme because of his good sense of fun and the way he brought awareness to looking after animals. I wish his family all the best especially his young children.

A horrible death by accident from a nasty animal is exactly what I was expecting to happen to him eventually. The only surprise is that it was a freak accident involving a relatively safe animal rather than a dangerous killer (like a crocodile) being provoked by close encounters.
It reminds me of a documentary programme a few years ago about a man who spent his life going to watch and film volcanic eruptions. He openly said that he fully expected to be killed by a pyroclastic flow (as indeed he was). Somehow I think Steve Irwin would have wanted to go in a similarly dramatic way, albeit not so tragically early while his children are still young.

I was so sad to hear the terrible news. My boyfriend and I often watch his shows on a Sunday and he just made us laugh all the time with his crazy sense of humour and his love of the animals that most of us are so scared of.
I thought one of the snakes would get him in the end - the way he went seems unthinkable but at least he died doing what he loved
