Okay, I want a spoiler for Lost.

My missus has started watching it, I can't get into it but am (of course) curious as to what it's all about. So, if anybody can tell me (a) what it's about and (b) how it ends, I would be very grateful.

Although you find out a little bit more about 'The Others', at the end of the second series you don't find out what it's all about, unfortunately. They set it up for series 3.
There is a bit of a cliffhanger and one of the main characters does leave the island though.
