TV Series from the 80's or early 90's

there was an american tv series on in the 80's or early 90's about a family of 5 who travelled through (i think it was a different world). They were being chased by a guy who was like a bad cop.
Sought of set in the future, bit vague I know but if anybody remembers anything like this and knows what it was called thanks

the guychasing them was a tubby guy who was also in I think, masters of the Universe was he the dwarf or am i thin kng of LOTR/

The Fantastic Journey was a show from the 1970's.

Not a family, but the cast would transport themselves to different versions of Earth, always trying to get home.
