Did anyone see Countryfile this morning? They had a photographic competition where viewers sent in their photos of the countryside and weather conditions. They are compiling a 2007 calendar with the final 12 chosen. I loved the misty Whitby Abbey picture and was miffed that it was not chosen. I thought it was better than at least 6 of those chosen. What do you think ? Incidentally , despite my user name, I am not from Whitby !!!

I watched it as well, but gotta agree with Chris Packham, whilst it WAS a good photo it's doubtful whether you'd want to spend an entire month looking at a blurry pic.

My particular favourite was the icecream van in the rain.

I would have looked at it , I'm a Whitby lover though ! In the end I voted for no.12,a rainy black and white pier photo ! Thanks for your reply !!!
I didn't see the program but could look at Whitby Abbey 12 mths of the year !!!! Will be looking at it at Christmas for real - yippee.

So will I, we spend every Christmas in Whitby, usually a week. Staying just outside Whitby this Xmas in Aislaby.
Love Aislaby, we pass through it on the bus to Guisbrough. Also the ancient Old Monks Trod passes it which we walked this summer.

Like the summer, we'll be staying in Robin Hoods Bay. Merry Christmas. Bit early but talking holidays has got me in the mood.

Roll on Chrimbo !! Can't beat being near the sea at that time of year.We always go and watch the boxing day dip in Whitby (for charity),go if you can -it's great !!
Couldn't see what the photo of the rafting had to do with weather?

I agree the whitby abbey photo would have been better
mosesg, look again at the surface of the water - it's clearly tipping down with rain but the boys still seem to be enjoying themselves.
Unfortunately there is no public transport Boxing Day and we don't have our own. We regularly walk the coast path to Whitby but it would be too dark to set off to get there for 10am when they start to dip.
On Christmas Eve at Robin Hoods Bay they have carols round the Christmas tree on The Dock - it's quite magical. It makes our stay.
We're hoping it snows again, the coast is so beautiful.

Well we had to get the owner of the cottage we were in to dig a track out for us as the snow was so deep last Chrimbo, so fingers crossed for a repeat !! Christmas Eve is our wedding anniversary so we will be having a meal at The Estbek in Sansend, hope it's snowing when we come out-that would make Christmas for me !!
Looks like we are both going to have a super Christmas Eve. Happy Anniversary, is it a special one ?
