did anyone see the program last night, is it just me or do you think ,considering the state of the guys house, that there may be a more serious possibly medical condition that needed to be addressed. What I am trying to say is thay perhaps maybe he was suffering from depression or a mental illness. I can understand how things can get 'on top of you' but I was genuinely shocked by the state of his house, although I must say that he did come across as a nice guy and I am not trying to pigeon hole him but I would be interested in your opinions
yes, I know what you mean. i didn't see last nights prog but i've seen others, one woman (a teacher) in particular. she clearly suffered some degree of depression, but it was only touched on. i guess this isn't an in depth sort of programme. pity, 'cause i reckon there are a lot of people who would be interested and perhaps helped by something that got a bit more to the root of the problem : )
I always think that the person is suffering from depression or some other illness, it's a shame that they live the way they do although I have to say that programme makes me look like I live in an immaculate house!!!
What I find hard to believe is that they then go on national TV and show us all what dirty oiks they are. Im sorry illness or no illness that is disgusting. My mother has suffered with depression all her adult life and in no way would she live like that. I can see where you are all coming from, but hey they are DISGUSTING.
I do not know if they are suffering from depression or anything else for that matter but I just think that it is beyond the realms of normality. I am not the most house proud person myself but I feel when confronted with this on national tv that there must be, as mms says, something more at the root of the matter.
I also watched the show and was horrified. I suffer from depresion and occassionally I cannot be bothered to do the housework, but at least my home is always tidy. It seemed such a shame because he was obviously intelligent, articulate and from what I gathered used to love entertaining. When Kim and Aggie returned there was already signs that he was slipping back into his old ways - did you notice the clutter on the bathroom shelf! I hope that he has changed, but I think that with many of these cases it is just a matter of time before you are fighting your way through the carrier bags of tissues again!!
I take on board everyone's point of view about this guy, he was extreme, BUT in general do you not think that sometimes people are just clarty and are looking to find some other mug/s to clean up their mess?
twaflooers, I take your point but think this was completely extreme, as I have said I am not the most tidy person ever but even I was shocked. If I was really that bad then I would be ashamed to let anyone in my house because I would realise how bad it was, in fact I would have to clean it before anyone came in!!!
