Do you think that if someone won a really pathetic sum of money, like 50p, would they actually bother writing out a cheque for them?

They would be in trouble if they didn't. A win like that even on a game show is legally binding and the accountants must follow the proceedures.

I bet some contestants don't bother collecting them or bin them straight away though.
