Can anyone tell me the name of this movie

I need to know the name of the movie. The film is an old black and white about a Single career woman who has a daughter and her black maid who also has a daughter. The black woman's daughter has very light skin and tries to pass her self off as white and disowns her mother. The mother then dies in the film and the daughter is too late and runs at the end of the funeral procession wailing. I think the daughters name was Mary Ann or somthing similar. Would be grate if anyone could let me know what it's called. Thanks CAT

Possibly "Imitation of Life". The 1934 version was in b/w, and the 1959 version was in colour.
