What do television continuity announcers do with the other fifty-eight minutes of every hour when they are not reading two lines of script to tell us what the next programme is?

If a tape fails, after five minutes they have to say 'Your programme will resume shortly, in the mean time here is some naff music.' 'We interupt this programme because I bet you didn't know, that you wanted to know...'
