Weekdays peak TV - 7pm Emmerdale. 7.30pm Coronation Street. 8pm The Bill. Intermittently mixed in with fly-on-the-walls. Has ITV run out of ideas? Or is the UK happy to have dumbed-down TV and am i a minority whinger?

I thought for a while I was developing a telly snobbery but the standar of programming on BBC1 and ITV is truly awful....I find that I am watching less and less these day and the majority of it os from C4 and BBC2 with the odd honorable mention to C5 for things like CSI.
I haven't watched a 'soap' for donkeys years. I admit the first few fly on the wall documentaries, mainly about different jobs/careers etc., were pretty good but it does make me wonder where the TV licence money goes. Most of the programmes are repeats or rubbish. The Office is about the only 'new' thing worth watching!
They might be dumbing down but look at the viewing figures. The higher the viewing figures the more is charged for advertising and therefore higher profits for shareholders. I'm not referring to BBC of course which is another hobby horse of mine, nuff said.
