night terrors

i recently saw a film at the cinema (in the last year) about a young boy who suffered night terrors, aliens came in to his room but could only stay in the dark, the boys uncle also had suffered these night terrors, and both went to the same psychiatrist. any clues? its not Darkness Falls or Pitch Black!
