why is this advert making black jamaican people look so stupid, making jaimaican & black people in general look ridiculous.
The advertisers should be made to look at themselves & to see what they were playing at?

So it doesnt make a person just look generally stupid and he just happens to black then. I can think of many adverts that make white people look stupid. There is another trident advert where they use another nationality, she must look stupid too.
the advert is ridiculous, am i the only one who cant understand a word the man is saying ?
yes I hate it, but why does that make it anything to do with his race?? Lots of adverts are stupid, I could never understand the crazy frog either
crete i said the same thing in a post afew weeks ago, i think its a pathetic advert and cant understand what he's saying so whats the point
Dickos, I agree that the advert is extremely annoying, but dont jump on the band wagon and use the actor's colour as an excuse. Grow up!
The thing is, you've all noticed the ad, and for any of you that chew gum, chances are, when you see it in the shop you might think "oh I might as well try that!" and buy some - advertisers job a good 'un.
PLEASE,DON'T play the Race Card again.!!
I dont run out and but much I see on tv but I have tried this as a mate offered me one and they taste gorgeous you have to try and stop yourself from swallowing it.
I agree - the advert is so annoying. It's impossible to tell what he's saying. And that's not because of the actor or his Jaamaican accent. It's the sound recording. It's appalling.
spaced, if he was a white jamaican he would still be annoying and not be able to understand him so its nothing to do with colour and jumping on the bandwagon, i think its you who needs to grow up
Would you apply the same reasoning to the Cillit bang ads.
Hes annoying and loud but he's white. It doesn't matter what the persons race is. The new one is a white man and it still is an irritating ad. I can't stand it either.
How ever the gum tastes very nice. But I was chewing before I ever saw the ad.
.
Always turned the advert off before the end as it was so annoying, so never did find out what he was advertising (same with the Cillit man when that came on). However, might try it now as it has had some good recommendations here on AB! :-) Who needs the adverts when you have AB?
I like that advert, it's funny!
I find it very annoying that people trivialise the race issue by getting annoyed about silly adverts, There are plenty of adverts that make all sorts of people seem ridiculous. What about the advert that shows a young lad with his head in a sofa and also sniffing his underpants - that one makes me feel slightly uneasy. Also as other people have pointed put out the Cif advert makes dark haired men look very foolish and don't even get me started on the one where the boy takes his girfriend home and she ends up in a provocative pose on the sofa while he eats a burger.
its nothing to do with race, its an annoying advert because the majority of people just dont understand what he is saying, it would be the same if it were a white person
Durrrrrr !! Dont you all realise that the advertisers know exactly what they are doing and have achieved their aim ?

Whether or not you can understand what he is saying ( I can by the way ) is not the point
In fact the advertisers knew from the outset that 95 % of the population would not understand some or all of what he is saying .

The point of the advert is to get us all talking / thinking about the actual product which is what is hapenning - and therefore a significant number of people will now buy the product - just to try it out - which they probably would not have done , if it was just another run of the mill advert

Advertisers use a whole raft of methods to get people to buy their products / services - this is just one method .
They are not stupid - they know it works
And how are we to know that dickos is not, in fact, an employee of the agency that makes the advert who has managed to get us all talking here?? :-)
Oh dear here we go again, we've offended yet again, is there no end to it?

I am an elderly white male but I have to put up with, the elderly made to look foolish and senile. Women treating males like lap dogs, even seen an advert where the woman holds down a man to the floor with her foot, would never be allowed in reverse.

Then there are the Home Office adverts where a Black couple show a potential White Burglar how easy it is to break into their home. Or the Asian guy that shows the White Thief how to steal his mobile phone. Once again would never be allowed to shown in reverse.
gina i think you need to read my answer again, because its obvious you did not understand it.

Dickos was complaining that the advert made black people look silly. I think the advert is annoyoying, but not degrading to black people, thats why I said dont let the colour be the excuse to start a debate.

Get it now??? duh!
plus gina you say it has nothing to do with race, but the original question/comment from dickos IS to to with race and colour. It has nothing to do with how annoying the advert is, but more to do with it, according to dickos making black people look silly.

You need to learn how to read a question/comment before stamping your feet like a little child and making your own comments.

bye
