Can youe employer take money from your basic pay without stating on your payslip what it was for, i was off sick but my basic pay has been reduced but nothing has been put on my payslip to tell me why.

You may not be entitled to sick pay from your employer, in which case you will only be paid for the hours you have worked. Check with your employer, or read thru' your contract to find out. Perhaps you have to be in their employment for a while before they pay it. If you ARE entitled to sick pay, did you complete a self-certificated form? They may require you to do so, before they will pay it. If you do not receive sick pay thru' your employer, you can make a claim for income support, but you are not guaranteed it, nor can you claim it in hindsight (for a back payment) unless you have a very good reason for not claiming it before.
