Michael Crichton wrote & directed the film. Don't think there is a King book of that name although I believe the main character in The Dead Zone awakes from a four year coma.
You could say the same thing about "Kill Bill"
I think the film was based on a book by Robin Cook. The story is approximately the same, although some details are changed - the hero in the book is a man, I think (unless I remember incorrectly) and a student rather than an experienced older person.
Amazingly for such a prolific writer in the "horror" genre King has never written anything with Coma in the title....The Dead Zone's main character Johnny Smith did indeed recover from a long coma with supernatural powers of pre-cognition.

The movie was based on a popular book 'Coma' written by a doctor, Robin Cook (no not the one in the UK parliament).
