red dwarf - wizard of oz = similarities?

lister - is alone in a strange world, the only human and just wants to go home = dorothy
kryten = tin man, very caring, wants a heart and to be human
rimmer - a coward, and not too bright, but wants to be the cleverest and best - scarecrow
cat - the lion, cowardly and vain
kochanski - wicked witch of the east who came along and ruined it all(LOL)
what do you reckon?
do you think this was deliberate by grant and naylor?

Hmm , not sure if I agree with that because he wasn't a disembodied head - unfortunately we got to see the whole lot with him ........ a creepy little old man who hides behind a curtain , frightening a little girl and her friends ! At least Holly is quite entertaining. The wizard just has the yuk factor and you can practically see the trail of ooze when he moves about. I think that the film should be renamed The Wizard of ooze to pay homage to the big ooze himself. Urgh !!!
