Written and indeed performed by Andrew Gold who also had more well known hits in the UK with Lonely Boy and a number 5 in '78 with Never let her slip away, he later went on to form the band Wax with Graham Gouldman (earlier of 10CC) who had a hit with Bridge to your Heart.....the song was not written specially for the show.
