if he came from Krypton, and his name is Cal-el and his dad is Jor-el, why was he given a blanket with an S on? why is all the stuff he gets given from Jor-el got an S on it? I know that S stands for Superman, but why does everything Kryptonian have S on it?

do the words "bite me" mean anything to you, everhelpful? this is a question and answer website, i asked a question. how does that rate me getting a comment like that? if you dont care, don't post. quit being rude.
It wasn't an S for Superman as such, as Jor-el also wore it - although I guess in the original comics it was.

Seemed to me in the movie that it was a family emblem, but the Wikipedia explanantion goes further - see above.
If I remember rightly, the S is the insignia (not sure is insignia is the correct word) for the house of Jor-el. In the original movie, all of the high councei on Krypton had different insignia on their clothes.
Sorry, didn't mean to be rude,immi666. The words Bite me don't mean anything to me,though,is that your way of telling me to get stuffed perhaps. If so, I probably deserve it. Sorry again.
