I was just wondering if anyone could think of any characters in shows that have had the actor replaced - and have actually been better than the original....?

i can only think of neil stuke in game on, being better than ben chaplin... not by a huge margin, but still better i thought.

( i don't mean kids growing up and coming back as adults, like adam ricket in corrie)

Maybe Vivian from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, although she may not have been better necessarily, but I found her equally as good!
Neil Morissey was much better than Harry Enfield in Men Behaving Badly.
And both John Hannah and Ken Stott played Rebus - Hannah in series 1,replaced by Stott.

I prefer Stott - much grittier.
The daughter (Becky I think her name was) in Roseanne. Quite cleverly in the first episode she was in they were watching an episode of Bewitched and were debating which was the better Darrin, surprisingly the new actress chose the second Darrin.
The new Belle Dingle is a brilliant little actress.
There's never been a better Dr Who than William Hartnell.
Belle Dingle no 2 played by Eden Taylor-Draper.She is the best child actress in many a year.Such talent .
scott in neighbours, can't remember the name of the guy who player him before but jason d was much better!
I remember Nicky Tildsley in Corrie - out went a drippy wooden teenager, in came a gay icon!

Down the Street 'our Traaaceeeah' was played by a milk-sop teenager with the acting skills of a pallete, suddenly she's gone and Kate Ford, Ms. Pussycat 2007 appeared - result!

The Dr. Who conundrum set a clever precident, and although Mr H. is definitive, my fave was always Patrick Troughton.

neil morrissey was a new character, not a replacement actor.

can't remember vivians or scotts previous actors at all ...i guess that proves the second was better!

i remember the roseanne episode, and the new becky, lol, didn't think she was better though (should have been though - it was sarah chalke! from scrubs)

and second darrin was certainly better than the first, more ''comedic''

lol about dr who... the ultimate in changed actors!
I think the second Bouncer from Neighbours was a much better actor than the first one didnt he even have his own episode once?!
Christian Bale is by far the best Batman after, Adam West, Michael Keaton, George Clooney and Val Kilmer.

Regarding TV, I agree with Ethel about Rebus, Stott is a fine actor.

Christian Bale is certainly the best Batman everer....possibly the fittest bloke from the Uk!

I dont think any replacement except for the Doctor is acceptable. I personally think the latest 2 doctors have been fantastic but maybe thats because I grew up with Sylvestor McCOy!
Janine in Eastenders was way better than the other ten or so that had played her previously! and Lucy in neighbours, when she replaced that kid with the really bad adenoids!!!!
I think Kochanski (or however you spell it) on Red Dwarf was much better with the new actress. Don't know the previous one but the later one was Chloe Anet or something like that.
Kochanski was originally played by Clare Grogan, former singer of early 80s pop group Altered Images, and fondly remembered by many of us who were teenage boys at the time. ;-)

She still looks pretty good, considering she's now 45 (yikes!)
Good question...the two worse ones that spring to mind are Mark Fowler and Jack Sugdens missus in Emmerdale
oh and btw andy hughes...Tracy Ford?... Miss Pussycat?...is that because she`s always grinning like one?

I`ll let you off your Whigfields Saturday night as one of your fav records but Tracy Ford???...give over man!
Claire in Hollyoaks!
They changed who played her, well they didnt have a choice as the old actress read her script about the killing off Max & aid she couldnt play a part like it so she left!
I dont like the new Claire, but then thats because i dont like the character
Hi Elvis!

Glad we can touch base on Whigfield, but we seem to differ with Tracey Ford. Oh well, takes us all to make an AB!cv
