Is anybody else getting up fed about

the news being about Maddie all the time? Don't get me wrong, its awful,but do we need to keep seeing her parents on tv, walking to church, going to the shop, etc. etc. Media attention is important I know,but don't ram it down our throats. Keep us updated when progress has been made. Do I sound harsh?

I disagree- keeping it constantly in the media is making sure we don't get a chance to forget that it's happening. Madeleine could have been taken anywhere in the world by now, the more her little face is plastered on the television and newspapers the better chance she has of being recognised.

i agree Amber at the risk of being shouted at? poor little mite, christ wouldnt wish that on anyone, but on the whole what you said i think is right, now in my very humble opinion would it not be best if one of the family went and took the other two little ones back home? cant be good for them all this upset and trauma and IF the outcome is not what we all hope, how is that poor woman going to cope with looking after the twins as well as everything else? I also wonder how long do you decide to stay there for? i mean these police are clearly not going to carry on searching indefinately? Cant begin to imagine when you decide its time to go home poor things x

The importance of constant media coverage in this case is vital -- in rthe hopoe that the 'nappers make a mistake or get cornerered and cut their losses.
I pray this family succeed -- and keep the pressure on, as it is important.

If I was the parent of the twins, I'd be very reluctant to allow them to come back to the UK without me. Maybe having the twins around is helping ease their grief slightly. Plus they are so very young, so I really don't think they'll think there's anything wrong or out of the norm. In the paper today i read that they are being told that Madeleine is playing outside, so as far as they are concerned nothing is wrong.

I'm amazed that people seem to be fed up of this heartbreaking story already, it's only been 8 days since she disappeared! I could maybe see your point if this happened months ago.

Sorry to come back to the thread and hark on again, but for some reason this tragedy has really affected me. My own little girl is only 2 and half and I'm maybe empathising more due to this?

As I just posted on News, I cant, for the life of me understand Maddie's parents leaving her and the twins alone even if they were only in the restuarant. Im a parent and grandma and it's unthinkable. Im praying for Maddie's safety and just hope to God it's not a paedo thats got her. I agree BOO,it's heart wrenching but as for the Maddie's parents leaving their kids alone Im disgusted. You just dont go off and leave your kids.

Her point was that she was fed up of the news/media constantly being about this story, to which i disagreed stating that (in my opinion anyway) that I'm glad it's all, or nearly all the media is concentrating on.

the press are keeping any hopes alive of anybody finding that poor little girl, could you imagine if all of a sudden the press said " you know what, i think we should all go home and forget about that kid"................. the police aint gonna be able to get the story and pictures to the general public on there own are they?

and could any of you honestly imagine coming away from that country without your son/daughter????????

Obviously I want to see her found safe and well but the next time a child goes missing in the UK will there be a similar amount of media hype? Let's not forget that this tradegy was AVOIDABLE and the parents are totally to blame. It's alright them crying now, pity they didn't put her before nights out with friends next to the hotel swimming pool.

sorry, cant agree, the more coverage we get the more the chances are of finding her. I agree with B00s sentiments totally. I live in Leicester and we have even more coverage of this story on our local news and in the local paper. Not for one single moment have i felt slightly bored by it. This is so vital to finding her.
The issue is not that the children were left alone. The issue is finding her safe and if thats not going to happen, then just finding her, full stop. God forbid!
No way would or could i leave a country without my child, whichever way this goes, and i would also need my other children around me to keep me strong and keep giving me a reason to keep going.

i think it needs to be kept in the media spotlight as much as possible. i dont have kids but can imagine the pain the parents are going through.
its not even been THAT long she has been missing for and i just think that the more its in the spotlight the better.
perhaps the next time this happens to a child in the uk, perhaps we wont focus as much as this, but thats not what matters, what really matters is getting the poor wee thing home. i just hope to god she is alright. there really is some sick people in this world

10 years ago my little brother was at dunblane primary school and although its a completley different situation there was 5 hours in my life where i had no idea whether he was involved in the shootings, i will never ever forget that feeling of not knowing, but for those poor parents i imagine thats magnified by 100000

I think we can all take the tragedy of this situation as read - no-one with any heart could wish for anything but a safe return for this little girl but -

the media overkill is not helping anyone, in any way - including the parents and family involved.

It's a kind of 'grief lite', this false notion that we are all bonded together in grief for this child and her family, and it is simply not good for anyone elxcept media shareholders.

We all get to tell each other how tragic it is and ....

and what?

Nothing.

If this child is found, it will be because of a concernted effort by police and associated agencies, it will not be seriously assisted by some bizarre notion that anyone is more likely to recognise this child - assuming her kidnappers were stupid enough to take her out in public.

I would not say I am 'fed up' about the constant media overkill, but I think it unhelpful, depressing and ultimately pointless except as a means of tapping into national conciousness in a sinister way to shift papers.

I tend to agree with Andy, exactly what is this Media coverage meant to achieve?

If you're the people who abducted her will it make you return her? NO

If you were in the area is it likely to jog your memory? NO. Your memory would be jogged within minutes of hearing about the tradegy.

Without meaning to sound horrible that poor child is missing due to her parents neglect. Nice of them to cry in the church and hold teddies when the week before they were more concerned about being on the lash with their mates than looking after their children. The whole tradegy is that a little girl is missing and too many people are jumping on the bandwagon.

to amber. there is pros and cons to your comments like most peoples comments but what really gets me is that not one person has had the balls and say it serves the parents right, i know that sounds awful, but hear me out. i have two kids who i love very much and i`ve often taken them on holiday but never ever would i dream of leaving my kids in a cabin or house or indeed anywhere on their own while me and my wife went out for our tea. it doesn`t matter how far away they were, wether it was 10 meters or 10 miles you don`t leave your kids on their own especially in a different country. why aren`t they getting any bad press? they should be partially to blame. does anyone agree with me?

I actually believe that all this media attention will be more of a hinderence then a help now. I mean, whoever took her is bound to know how far this has gone media wise and I would think are far less likely to return her knowing that quite literally half the world would want to see them hung drawn and quartered. Even if they wanted to return her now, they probably wouldn't for knowing what would happen to them.
