I think we can all take the tragedy of this situation as read - no-one with any heart could wish for anything but a safe return for this little girl but -
the media overkill is not helping anyone, in any way - including the parents and family involved.
It's a kind of 'grief lite', this false notion that we are all bonded together in grief for this child and her family, and it is simply not good for anyone elxcept media shareholders.
We all get to tell each other how tragic it is and ....
and what?
Nothing.
If this child is found, it will be because of a concernted effort by police and associated agencies, it will not be seriously assisted by some bizarre notion that anyone is more likely to recognise this child - assuming her kidnappers were stupid enough to take her out in public.
I would not say I am 'fed up' about the constant media overkill, but I think it unhelpful, depressing and ultimately pointless except as a means of tapping into national conciousness in a sinister way to shift papers.
