star trek - the next generation.....the dominion

In the film Star Trek - Nemesis on Channel 4 last weekend, there was mention of The Dominion. I may have missed any episodes featuring The Dominion ( I don't know whether they are a race or whatever ) so could anyone please enlighten me?
