Do I have to be Asian to be a TV reporter?

I'd like to get a job as a TV reporter, but I've watched TV news bulletins on BBC, ITV and Sky and (no exaggeration) most of their reporters are Asian. As I'm not Asian, what chance do I have of becoming a TV reporter? Any advice?

over the last year, I reckon I've seen 60% are Asian - including BBC Breeakfast this morning. BBCTV even has an Asian soccer presenter and an Asian tennis reporter and I can't say I've ever heard of Asians being successful playing either sport

The non-whites should be restricted to the radio or, if they HAVE to be on tv, they should be filmed fae behind so their colour is hidden.

If their accents have any hint of an Asian twang, their report should be voiced by a native-born English person.

Does the BNP have its own tv station?

Just LOOK at all these Asian faces employed by Sky for example - simply LOADS of them (I make it a whopping 2 out of 71, but I may have miscounted). ;-)

I don't know about that, but the ladies are always very very tasty, in the same way that radio presenters have sexy voices like Sarah Cordy on LBC 1152 at the moment, and the Sports presenter Katie Murrells, who enchantingly says foine and toime, she must be from Nottingham.

That is such a childish question, flipnflap, and if you really do want to be a TV reporter, I'd suggest you post in Jobs & Education. The truth is that anyone with good spoken English and a decent education can apply/audition to be a TV reporter. Asian reporters are often sent to Asian countries and communities because they happen to know the culture and speak the local languages.

Also, Asian people happen to become TV reporters because they're rather good at it. I know I'd rather listen to Priya Kaur Jones over Eamon Holmes any day. At least I can understand what she's talking about.
