Gadget boy motives...

Can anyone remember a single motive from 'Gadget boy'? or 'inspector gadget' or 'scooby doo' or any crimefighting hero? who pays them?!?!

I can't speak for Gadget Boy, but Inspector Gadget was a police officer (hence the name) so he was paid by the ploice force. Admittedly he only kept his job because his neice did most of the work (and she couldn't have done it without her dog Brains) Nobody ever seemed to ask why she spent so much time out of school, or why her legal guardian was so lax as to let her fall into so many life threatening situations. As for the Scooby gang, they solved crimes for the fun of it. I always felt that Fred and Daphne must have had rich parents, and that Shaggy was just mooching (as he didn't do much in the way of crime fighting) Perhaps Velma funded their adventures from the profits of some invention or other?
